    3. Does this mean you retouched the first picture? I still see nothing more than a sun reflection, whether from the camera or otherwise...people will come up with all sorts of things they "see" in it, much like deciphering shapes from clouds. ----- Original Message ----- From: "wcook" <wcook@rogers.com> To: <CAN-ONT-SIMCOE@rootsweb.com> Cc: <ONTARIO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2007 9:00 PM Subject: Re: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Ghost picture? > Lot of emails on this one, it gets people intrigued one person even > thought > it was a dog. > Here is the picture as it came out of the camera untouched. > > http://www.waynecook.com/AMYSTERY.html > > > Wayne Cook http://www.waynecook.com (A History Television Approved Site) > Host for the Simcoe County Genweb site at > http://www.waynecook.com/simcoe.shtml Ontario, Canada > Host for the Parry Sound Muskoka Genweb site at > http://www.waynecook.com/parrysound.html > 1. 3. The first picture was enhanced and cropped in order to try and read it better, you have to understand that this particular type of monument are one of the hardest to photograph because they wear very easy because of the rain and snow. The sun is behind so there would be no relection on it. 3. Very much a reflection from another tombstone or some thing in white like another person nearby. You can tell because the sun is coming in from the front left of the camera. Granite reflects light very well and is often very hard to photograph. I get this sort of reflection all the time in my pictures. Most often when I try to take a photograph of a picture on a wall with a glass cover, I often get more of the room behind me than the picture in front even though my eyes tell me the picture is very clear. Almost all "special effects" in the movies - pre-computers used this sort of reflection to fool people into thinking "ghosts" were onscreen. But you could probably get a few bucks from the National Enquirer for it :-)) Heck there are numerous reality TV shows based on this sort of optical illusion. People running around with infra-red cameras jumping every time something goes thump! "OMG!! It's a GHOST!!!" nope it's Camera Techniques 101 and a clumsy sound man. Nelson
