McGill; witnesses were Ernest Stovel of Wharncliffe & Annis Shrigley of Allandale. On 10 June 1929, Kenneth S. Stovel, accompanied by his wife, Rebecca, aged 38 years, farmhand, b. Collingwood Ontario, crossed into the US at Detroit, bound for his brother, Samuel, at 448 Lambeucht(?), Detroit; permanent move; gives his daughter, Martha, of 160 Eastbourne, Toronto, as his next of kin in Canada; last permanent residence in Canada given as Barry (sic). In the 1930 census, I find Kenneth & Samuel living side by side on North Lambrecht Avenue, East Detroit: Stobel (sic), Kenneth, Head, aged 39, married, for first time at age 20, b. Canada-English, parents b. same, emigrated 1929, alien, press operator, auto factory Stobel, Rebecca, Wife, aged 39, married, for first time at age 20, b. Canada-English, parents b. same Stovel, Samuel, Head, aged 33, married, for first time at age 28(?), b. Canada-English, parents b. same, bricklayer, odd jobs, emigrated 1922, naturalized Stovel, Francis, Wife, age 25, married, for first time at age 20, b. Scotland, parents b. same, emigrated 1910, naturalized Stovel, Thelma, Daughter, aged 4, single, b. Michigan Stovel, Dorothy, Daughter, aged 3, single, b. Michigan Stovel, Samuel, Son, aged 2, single, b. Michigan Stovel, Kenneth, Son, aged 8 months, single, b. Michigan Also next door: Stobl, Harry, Head, aged 39, married, for first time at age 22, b. Canada-English, parents b. same, emigrated 1922, alien, bricklayer, odd jobs Stobel, Rose, Wife, aged 34, married, for first time at age 17, b. Michigan, father b. Holland, b. England Stobel, Florence, Daughter, aged 16, single, b. Canada-English Stobel, Stella, Daughter, aged 14, single, b. Canada-English Stobel, Alberta, Daughter, aged 11, single, b. Canada-English Stobel, Ivan, Son, aged 7, single, b. Canada-English Harry is actually Harry Ernest, twin to Kenneth Sinclair Stovel, based on their birth registrations. Previous to Detroit, Harry E. & Rose lived in Sault Ste. Marie, as I find him crossing into the US at the Soo, aged 22, a bricklayer, last of the Soo, gives his wife, Rose of 135 Grosvenor Avenue, Soo, Ontario, as his next of kin, bound for Detroit.
