I was rather surprised to find out that Barrie has approximately 10 - 15 designations. Orillia, a considerably smaller city and we are pushing 30 designations under the Ontario Heritage Act. I recently heard that Barrie was looking for three more members for their Heritage Committee. Check at City Hall. Here is your chance to make a historical difference Chris. Our only hope is that if it gets sold that the new owners have some sense of pride and dignity of such a treasured building. Barrie has lost so much in recent years it would be such a shame to lose this too. Does anyone know if Lount's Castle, which was I believe built in the 1890's, has historical designation or is this another one that will end up like the Steele's Gift Shop?!? Thanks for any feedback :) Chris N ***************** Ten People All Genealogists Should Follow On Twitter: http://tr.im/hBAy Simcoe Co.
