    3. And THAT, as they say, IS PROGRESS !!!!!!!!! IT IS ENOUGH TO BRING TEARS TO YOUR EYES. Thanks Goodness, Ruth and I found it, along about 1994, from a small black-and-white snapshot, taken in 1947, and the 1857 plaque, over the central window. Thanks for the photos . particularly the '70's copy. Guard it well. Paul _____ From: Kenneth Calder [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: June-10-09 5:35 PM To: paul robins; fowke kenneth; Joan Phillips Subject: Churchville I recently passed through Churchville on my way to the annual OGS conference in Oakville. I am happy to report that the cemetery is well kept and our numerous family tombstones are still standing, although they are getting harder to read. I also noted that the part of the tombstone of Alexander Robert that used to be beside Robert's tombstone is no longer to be found. We also visited the Calder farm where the news is not so good. Everything save the house Charles built in 1857 has been torn down and it faces the same fate. The farm is to become part of Brampton's suburbia, covered in 'estate homes'. I attach photos, one taken in the 70's and a few I took this time. Cheers Ken Calder To the subscribers of the " SIMCOE LIST" , The house , in question, was built by our 2G-Grandfather, Charles Calder , in 1857 .....now slated for demolition. It was still inhabited, when we last saw it.The Calders came to Peel County, in 1816, from New Hampshire, U,S.A., where Charles' Grandfather, Robert, had been a Secretary/ Gardener, Confident, of the Last Royal Governor of New Hampshire, John Wentworth. Everybody's world fell apart, in 1775 !!!!!!! Paul Robins
