Hi Pam, Can't claim this to be anything other than a bit of semi-guided guess work really but it looks as if turnips were some times grown in / on "hills" in the same way potatoes frequently are / were. By analogy to the practice of "logging" (corduroy) ing roads I wonder if this term "Logging" might be the process of forming these hills prior to planting. I did actually find one "bit" on the net which talked about using a log to dig / drag / plow the trench between the raised planting hills, offering a second possibility of the derivation of the term.
