My thanks to all those who replied to my questions about the Attestation and Draft papers. You had some very good and logical reasons why the word Special would have been stamped on a fellow's papers and why there would have been a discharge from the service and then a draft notice issued later for another fellow. I have lucked out and discovered that the husband of one of our volunteers is a former military man with a huge library and interest in all things military. Hopefully, he will be able to come up with some explanations also. Pam
