Just a small item for your recording - when entering a "dit" name for a female it would be correct to use "dite" as "dit" is for males. Hi Charles wife Marie Hermine (Minnie) giroux would be my husbands 3rd grt grand aunt, so I am interested in this info I can't find Charles baptism, but found an Albert Ladouceur baptised in Pointe-Claire (St-Joachim) on jun 9 1814. His parents are listed as Albert Ladouceur and Catherine Lafleur I have found the marriage of Albert and Catherine in Pointe Claire St Joachim page 13 of 190 indexed by ancestry as Albert la Magerline. My French is not the best, and the writing as always is poor, but his parents seem to be Joachim Lamagdeleine Ladouceur (no dit) and Marie Francoise Lebrun (no mention of Lafleur in this record) and Marie Catherine I just can't read the rest http://search.ancestry.ca/iexec/?htx=View&r=5543&dbid=1091&iid=d13p_11050089&fn=Albert&ln=la+Magerline&st=d&ssrc=&pid=8757187 Above is the link for those with access to ancestry.ca or .com Georgina Stratford Ontario ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharlene Bell-Haussmann" <[email protected]> To: "Simcoe List" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 5:05 PM Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Charles Ladouceur Anybody interested in Charles Ladouceur b.1816 d.1887. m. I can't find Charles baptism, but found an Albert Ladouceur baptised in Pointe-Claire (St-Joachim) on jun 9 1814. His parents are listed as Albert Ladouceur and Catherine Lafleur. This is the info I also found that I went forward with. I have found the marriage of Albert and Catherine in Pointe Claire St Joachim page 13 of 190 indexed by ancestry as Albert la Magerline. I looked further into this and found his parents and her parents.....Catherine Lafleur was listed in the marriage records as Bisolau or Birolau, looking at her father in the same record he is called Birolau.....In one record I believe she is listed as Bilodeau.....Looking farther I found that the correct spelling is Biroleau...Following this family back to the original Biroleau who landed in Quebec he is Pierre Biroleau dit Lafleur as per the PRDH records.....LIke any French family with a dit name, some of the children took it and some didn't.....but I have found in my research that those with a dit name usually only use the "dit" name in Ontario...... .. My French is not the best, and the writing as always is poor, but his parents seem to be Joachim Lamagdeleine Ladouceur (no dit) and Marie Francoise Lebrun (no mention of Lafleur in this record) and Marie Catherine I just can't read the rest http://search.ancestry.ca/iexec/?htx=View&r=5543&dbid=1091&iid=d13p_11050089&fn=Albert&ln=la+Magerline&st=d&ssrc=&pid=8757187 Above is the link for those with access to ancestry.ca or .com Georgina Stratford Ontario ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharlene Bell-Haussmann" <[email protected]> To: "Simcoe List" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 5:05 PM Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Charles Ladouceur Anybody interested in Charles Ladouceur b.1816 d.1887. m. Good Morning Sharlene: Sometimes the writing or the page may be clearer when viewing an entry from the Drouin Collection by using LDS Pilot. Unfortunately it is not indexed so you really need to view Ancestry or some other source to get the date of the event first. >From LDS Pilot for Saint-Joachim-de-la-Pointe-Claire 1810-1819, Image No. 17 for 26 November 1810: Marriage between Albert lamagdeleine adult son of Joachim lamagdeleine ladoceur of the parish called St ann and marie francoise lebrun and marie catherine biroleau minor daughter of the deceased Jean baptiste biroleau day worker and marie amarante of the parish of ste eustache. NB: The entry for the above marriage did not include many capital letters for names or locations but there was no reference to a dit name in the entry. However PRDH shows that a marriage took place between Jean Baptiste Biroleau Lafleur & Marie Amarante/Emerante in Ste Eustache in 1769 and that Marie Catherine Biroleau was baptized there in 1792. No dite name was used for her baptism entry in PRDH. PRDH also shows a marriage entry in Ste-Genevieve, Pierrefonds for 1770 of Francoise Girard Floridor Lebrun & Joachim Lamadeleine* Ladouceur Vivien. *The spelling of Lamagdeleine has been standardized to Lamadeleine. I do not have a subscription to PRDH to obtain details but the above is available through the public access at http://www.genealogie.umontreal.ca/en/ Cheers!
