Good morning folks. Thanks to all for the replies regarding my post for Zalmon HALL last week - today I have one other former mayor to inquire about - not for vital statistics (birth, marriage etc); but rather another request in the hopes that a descendant (or two or three) may be amongst the listers, and may have a photograph of Mr. Wright that they would like to share with the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum, for our "wall of mayors" display. George Herbert WRIGHT was the mayor of Penetanguishene for the year 1900. Born c 1849 in Lockport New York USA to George WRIGHT and Ann REID. Married in Orillia at the "house of James GOW" on 16 June 1874 to Jane GOW, daughter of James and Margaret GOW - she was age 20, he 24. In the 1891 census children listed include George Edward age 9, Margaret Edith age 5 and Mary A. age 1. Mr. Wright seemed to be a Presbyterian all his life. He died 10 November 1919 in Penetanguishene at the age of 70 years, 4 months, and 3 days. We'd love to hear from you if you are a descendant of George Herbert WRIGHT and Jane GOW. Hi Deborah Mr. Wright's family is buried in Orillia, as are Ms. Gow's family, at St. Andrew's St. James Cemetery.
