I was dismantling the museum's November World Wars display the other day and finally had a chance to see it all - as I put it into boxes for next year! As I did so, I was able to appreciate the amount of work Deb had put into the section on the WW2 soldiers. I'll let her tell you how she did it, but there are pages and pages of newspaper clippings all referencing the men and women who served from the Penetanguishene area. I've decided that amount of work, and the service these people gave to our country, deserves better than just putting the pile out for everyone to sort and look through. I am going to spend time over the next year compiling biographies and records of each person and putting them in one big binder, as I did in 2009 for the WW1 soldiers. The problem is that many of them were born after the privacy cut-off dates for civil and religious records. Records will be scarce and here is where all the Simcoe listers come in to the picture. I need your help! Occasionally, from now to November 2011, I will post a request for help in finding further information. I am hoping to find a relative or someone with a connection to the family who can help me fill in blanks. But, and this is a big but, I will not do this until I have searched all the available websites and museum records so there will be no need to start at square one when I post my request. Being first off the mark is not important, what you contribute is. If we had access to the 1921 census how easy this would be! So stay tuned........the first request is about to hit your inboxes. Pam
