According to Alan Rayburn's <Place Names of Ontario> the name Hanover was proposed by the first postmaster Abraham Gottwals since many of the first settlers came from Germany,. (From the area NOW known as Hannover).. Could Hannover have been Wannover previously.? Perhaps a German speaking person could help. The Graban record is clearly Wannover.    Joan
