    1. [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Festival du Loup - Lafontaine
    2. Pam Tessier
    3. Hi All, It is that time of the year again - Festival time! Festival du Loup is being held in Lafontaine on July 16, 17, 18. Check out the website for details: http://www.festivalduloup.on.ca/home.htm The website has some great photos of the original settlers and their families and I can guarantee you will see many more if you take in this event. This year the families being honoured are MARCHILDON, MOREAU, TESSIER AND COURTEMANCHE. I have had the pleasure of spending the last 10 months working on the Tessier and Courtemanche families' books and if you descend from any of these honouree families, the material collected (documents, reference books, photos) will make you positively ecstatic. The Courtemanche book has some remarkable pictures of the family contributed by a Simcoe List subscriber in Florida. Incidentally, the Penetanguishene Museum has a collection of Moreau information obtained by donation a few years ago. It is the largest collection of Moreau material anywhere in North America. The Penetanguishene Museum will be present, as we have been every year. I volunteer my time and work on these books for the Penetanguishene Museum so we will have the books and CDs available for sale by prepaid order. A portion of each sale from orders received during Festival will be donated to the Festival committee to assist in the building of their own museum. Take a trip to beautiful Tiny Township and stop in and visit us in the quaint village of Lafontaine - one of the few remaining French speaking villages in Ontario that celebrates their heritage. Hear some great French Canadian music - tap your toes and whoop it up! Hope to see you there! Pam

    3. I googled it & absolutely nothing comes up. Odd. I'd say it sounds Spanish, but that's presuming it was spelled correctly on the gravestone. My best guess would be it's the former name of a small island in either Lake Michigan or Lake Huron. And maybe the name is a twisted Anglo version of an original native name. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ladypatricia" <paron@bendnet.com> To: <can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 08, 2010 1:46 PM Subject: Re: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Isle of Paso Trudie >A grave in Michigan on Canada border had this statement Native of the > Isle of Paso Trudie > > Has any one any ideas???? > Thanks Lady Patricia > >> >> >> ------------------------------- >> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >> CAN-ONT-SIMCOE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without >> the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > ***************** > Ten People All Genealogists Should Follow On Twitter: http://tr.im/hBAy > > Simcoe Co.
