Hi Don, I have the book Medonte: A Township Remembered. I don't know if you have seen it  but 2 different Rutherford Families are listed. Both families are from Ireland. It indicates that your Adam Rutherford (1821-1903) was a butcher in Orillia. His father is listed as Allan Rutherford who was born inc.1790 his wife's name is listed as Mary. Allan and his wife lived on Lot 9 Concession 11 of Medone. He had been a Colour Sargeant in the 58 Regiment of Foot. Allan and Mary moved to Orillia before 1861. You seem to have more details than are in the book but you can contact me directly if you want some more of the info listed in the book.
