    3. Helen: If this is a son of a Samuel Loney, would you kindly let me know? The Sam Loney and family I'm interested in settled firstly in Lanark County, then moved up to the McArthur Mills area northwest of Renfrew, dispersing from there or shortly before leaving Lanark. 3. The following is from ' AS MEMORY SERVES ' ......... ARGYLE EPLETT was the son CHARLIE EPLETT ( Senior - my designation ) . Charlie Eplett and Aulden ROBINS ( my father ) were partners in the COLDWATER MILL .. 1923-1936 ( when my father died ) . Ownership of the mill passed ( then ) to Charlie EPLETT .... and upon his demise, the mill was operated by ARGYLE EPLETT . The Mill was purchased, a few years back, by a TRUST, to which many of us contributed, under which it is presently operated. It is all well documented, and perhaps a search of the Mill's History might shed some new light ............... GOOD LUCK ..... 3. Gwen: From the Coldwater Cemetery transcript (usual caveat - this was done in 1985 so current information won't be in here): Plot 14NC1 EPLETT; in loving memory of Ethyle Matilda CASWELL February February 18, 1884 - January 18, 1970. Beloved wife of Charles Henry EPLETT August 23, 1875 to February 20, 1971. Charles Argyle EPLETT December 5, 1906 - (blank), beloved husband of Shirley Alberta LOVERING. November 4, 1911 - November 9, 1984. The date for Ethyle Matilda CASWELL actually reads February 81, 1884 so you'll have to confirm this date if you need it. There are a couple of other Eplett entries if you need them. Let me know. Hope this is helpful. Deborah Crawford. >

    1. [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Fwd: World War Two soldiers
    2. Deborah Crawford
    3. Okay - I'll try this one more time. It bounced back the first time........ ---------- Good morning folks. As part of our annual Remembrance Day observance at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum, we honour area soldiers (Penetanguishene/Tiny Township) who served in World Wars I and II. As years go by, we will expand this to include service in other world wide conflicts. Last year, Pam did a magnificent job of locating and researching every soldier from the area who had served in World War I and created a wonderful, permanent record of these folks. This is available at the museum for viewing any time the research room is open. This year, we are expanding on this somewhat by featuring a small group of soldiers who fought in World War Two. It is by no means as inclusive or well documented as the World War One display, simply because we are dealing with times that are fairly current, historically speaking. From this group we will be featuring, there are ten men who lost their lives in the field and the display will (hopefully) highlight these men. This is NOT meant to exclude anyone - rather these ten fellows will be the representatives for the larger Penetanguishene and area group. We have managed to locate many records for these men, but would love to be able to personalize the display with either family photos or memories. If you are kin to, or have an association with, any of the following, we'd love to hear from you. If you would care to share photos with us, we promise they'll be treated with great respect and taken care of. We can copy them and keep them for our permanent records, or return to you - whatever your preference. If you want to contact me off list, feel free to do so. These are the ten soldiers: Arthur Kenneth BLOIS born 23 July 1912, Nova Scotia - died in the field (France) 29 July 1944. Connection to Penetanguishene - married Edith CALVERLY of the village. Eric Leslie BOOTH born 21 April 1906, England - died in the field (France) 14 August 1944. Connection to Penetnaguishene - married Mary Helen BOOTH (I believe nee SWITZER/SCHEITZER) of the village. Christopher Joseph Raymond CADEAU born 20 July 1925, Penetanguishene - died in the field (Holland) 27 October 1944. Born and raised in Penetanguishene. Raymond Bernard DION born 20 October 1919, Penetanguishene - died overseas 10 December 1942. Born and raised in Penetanguishene. Maxwell Warren KING born 24 March 1921. Death in the field (Holland) 16 April 1945. His parents and his wife are listed as "of Christian Island", yet various sources refer to him as being from Parry Island and some even refer to him as "Scottish". Frederick LANDRIGAN. Born 15 October 1921, death at sea (HMS St. Croix) 20 September 1943. Born Penetanguishene. Philip MAHER born 28 February 1918, death in the field (Italy) 17 January 1945. He was listed as a tailor, his mother's residence Penetanguishene. Russell George McINTAGGART born 19 January 1915, death overseas 31 July 1943. Born and raised in Penetanguishene. Willard Henry Joseph PERRAULT. Born 21 July 1923, death in the field (Italy) 5 September 1944. Born and raised Penetanguishene. And finally - Douglas Julian SALE born c 1914, died 20 March 1944 (France). Born Penetanguishene. If you need confirmation of parents to ensure you have the correct person, I have that here, but didn't want to clog up this letter with too many names and dates. Thanks folks. Hope to hear from you soon. Deborah Crawford Penetanguishene Centennial Museum www.pencenmuseum.com

    3. Hi Christol, Thank you, yes, I am in constant contact with the Genealogical Librarian in Cloverdale Library who has been extremely helpful. My cousin John, Social Anthropologist, also has been helping me with all my family reseach projects and sometimes poses questions that I post to get the answers where possible. You may already know this but the Cloverdale Library has a massive genealogical collection. It has been some time since I visited but the resource librarians were very knowledgeable and helpful with my research needs. http://www.spl.surrey.bc.ca/Programs+and+Services/Genealogy/default.htm Christol Date: Fri, 10 Sep 2010 21:22:14 -0700 > From: "Patricia A. 3. Dear Listers, Some of you asked for details re my Dunn Genealogy questions - I have forwarded the following email from my cousin John who is helping me gather details for my Dunns. He is trying to establish that Elizabeth is part of the family listed below - does anyone know the answer and are there any of my Dunn relatives living that I may contact? My paternal GGGrandmother was Elizabeth Dunn, who married William MIlton Bailey - they had three sons I believe, while living in Orillia, one being my Grandfather, Robert Milton and more sons after they left to settle in Selkirk, Manitoba. I believe William and Elizabeth are buried in Selkirk. Many thanks for the great help I have been receiving. Patricia Johnson Bailey/Dunn B. C. -----Original Message----- Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2010 8:23 AM To: Patricia Johnson Subject: Dunn Patricia, Went by the library - not much there. 1861 Orillia census: Thomas Dunn, born 1812 Scotland, farmer 100 acres, 42 cultivated, 49 woods, 1/2 garden, 8 1/2 pasture. 1871 Orillia census: Thomas 58, Margaret 53, Thomas Jr. 22, Agnes 19. Joseph 17, David 14, Mary 11, Ellen 8. So it looks like the older children including Catherine b. 1842 and Elizabeth b. 1845 were already out of the house. Perhaps there's a church or a civil record at Orillia that would confirm Elizabeth as part of this family. Noted that Margaret's father was also a farmer in 1861 - next farm in fact. John
