Hi Deborah Mr. Wright's family is buried in Orillia, as are Ms. Gow's family, at St. Andrew's St. James Cemetery. Thanks to all for the replies regarding my post for Zalmon HALL last week - today I have one other former mayor to inquire about - not for vital statistics (birth, marriage etc); but rather another request in the hopes that a descendant (or two or three) may be amongst the listers, and may have a photograph of Mr. Wright that they would like to share with the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum, for our "wall of mayors" display. George Herbert WRIGHT was the mayor of Penetanguishene for the year 1900. Born c 1849 in Lockport New York USA to George WRIGHT and Ann REID. Married in Orillia at the "house of James GOW" on 16 June 1874 to Jane GOW, daughter of James and Margaret GOW - she was age 20, he 24. In the 1891 census children listed include George Edward age 9, Margaret Edith age 5 and Mary A. age 1. Mr. Wright seemed to be a Presbyterian all his life. He died 10 November 1919 in Penetanguishene at the age of 70 years, 4 months, and 3 days. We'd love to hear from you if you are a descendant of George Herbert WRIGHT and Jane GOW. I am looking for any HALL family members, and will provide particulars in a second. At the Penetanguishene (Ontario) Centennial Museum we have a display featuring the mayors of the town, from its incorporation as a village in 1876, to it's incorporation as a town in 1882, to the present day. We are about to update this display, re-framing the photos to create a more "pleasing to the eye" display. We have a couple of blank spots, and that's where I'm hoping some Hamilton/Wentworth area folks can help, or maybe direct me to some descendants. Zalmon Artus HALL was born c 1843 to Asa K HALL and Sarah HALL. On the 1891 census it says his parents were both born in Quebec, but he is listed as being born in Ontario. On October 9 1872 he married Jemima E. WRIGHT age 23, daughter of Charles & Mary Jane WRIGHT of Binbrook, Wentworth. Both listed as Wesleyan Methodist. Zalmon's occupation was agent and bookkeeper. I'm not sure when they moved to the Penetanguishene area, but on the 1891 census he and his wife were living here with their children Charles A. HALL age 15, Jenny E HALL age 8, Erastus K HALL age 6 and Zalmon L HALL age 2. He was the mayor of Penetanguishene in 1896 and 1897. Hi Deborah, My name is Katherine Griebel. I had a great aunt, whose name was Cora Mae Baker-Hall. She was born in about 1885. Her father was Isaac Cober Baker. The family story was that she married a man by the name of Charles Hall. I don't think that the marriage lasted long. It was possibly for the reason to keep him from going away to the First World War--who knows. They had no children and she did not marry again. She died in Winnipeg. She was raised in Simcoe and was a half sister to my grandmother Lydia Marion Baker. Perhaps you might have more info on this union, and perhaps I could fill in some questions. Hi, I am not connected these families but found some information you may find of interest. On this website your Bezzo family members, brothers Andrew and Jean (John) Baptist(e) Bezzo are in the index. http://sites.google.com/site/longpointsettlers/settlers-b According to this book, John and Andrew married Beaupre sisters. John's wife was Julia and Andrew's was Sophia. Using this information, you can find a family group sheet for Julia Beaupre on Ancestry's public members' trees. You can view her baptismal information here: http://historyniagara.niagara.com/Marks/StMBaptList.htm#A1806 One of the trees (BapBeaupre) shows Julia married John (Jean) on December 23, 1819 at the age of 13. One of the other trees has her death year as 1837. The children listed on the BapBeaupre tree for Jean Baptiste Bezzo and Julia Beaupre are as follows: Andrew S. Bezzo 1826-1891 (this is taken from the actual death registration) Francis B. Bezzo 1827- (he is shown on the 1871 census in Norfolk with Andrew Bezzo (age 82) who may be his father's brother (widower). There is an Ontario Death Registration for a Frank Bezzo in 1899, Norfolk. Maria Bezzo 1832- John's second wife, Orpha Rose Bezzo died in Norfolk in 1900. If you would like to search Norfolk County cemetery records for Bezzo, here is their search page: http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa/search.php I hope some of this information will be of help to you.
