    1. Re: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] CAN-ONT-SIMCOE Digest, Vol 6, Issue 4
    2. With all of the cemetery adds and updates coming out,I hope some of you wonderful Canadian Geneologists can help me with a "humongous" Canadian brick wall that's had me occupied for years. I am searching for the Death/Burial Record for Henry A Ranson born 1787 in Co. Armagh, Ire. He died in about 1879. He married Julia Mullans, Feb 16, 1840 at St John the Baptist RC Church, Perth ON. The family lived in Perth Ontario and belonged to St. John the Baptist R. C. Parish. They had four children, David, Dennis, and twins, Cornelius and Bridget. David moved to Sault Ste Marie, ON. in 1870-71, then to Sault Ste Marie, MI in 1875. Dennis followed David to Soo MI soon after. Dennis' daughter, Isabelle married Michael J Traynor. Cornelius and Mother, Julia moved to Sault Ste Marie MI in 1879, about the same year Henry died. She appears in the 1880 census for Wabasha, Winona Co. MN. She apparently was visiting her daughter, Bridget Melvin, because she lived in Soo, MI where she died. If anyone has questions, or comments. you can email me directly. I don't like to clog up the lists. I am sending this to the Simcoe List because that's where my Patton line is from, and to the Grey List because of my connection to the Traynor Line. Thank you, in advance, for your help. Jim Patton Glendale, AZ

Please go to the Website at: http://www.gravemarkers.ca and click on the "Join Updates Newsletter" button located just above the weather row. * * HELPFUL HINTS: ************* * 1. Are you tracing a female ancestor....? Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 2. Over the years it has been apparent that this website is instrumental in breaking down researchers' brick walls. In fact many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard to physically observe the grave markers. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the contact information for the cemetery "record holders". * 3. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means a volunteer has not photographed and sent me the cemetery photographs. Can you or some of your family or friends help out by photographing the missing cemeteries....? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors. If you have any questions or suggestions to improve the Canadian Gravemarker Gallery please do not hesitate to send your concerns or suggestions to us at : pletsch@cogeco.ca * * ********************************************* Happy New Year to You and Yours.....Murray P l e t s c h * Cdn Gravemarker Gallery - http://gravemarkers.ca * Ont Historic Gallery - http://rootsweb.com/~cannor * *********************************************

    3. My ex-husband's Muggli family is from the same area. It's a Romansch speaking area, and the inhabitants are probably descendants of Roman soldiers who were given land there after completing their service. Roman soldiers could have come from anywhere in the Empire, but the Muggli name is probably from the Roman gens Mucio. Since folks were very, very freely adopted back then, and freed slaves also took the family name, and soldiers often used their general's name on taking citizenship, the name doesn't imply an origin in Rome itself. > Date: Fri, 31 Dec 2010 12:57:47 -0800 > From: gwenny@snet.net > To: can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com > Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Genealogical exercise > > Barbara Heloise Dunlop, 1911-1994, Cole Camp, Missouri > Emilie Maria Wilhelmine Hetzler, 1885- 1957, Canton, Missouri > Barbara Brosi, , 1849-1902, Galena, IL > Catharina Werli, 1823- 1906, Davos-Glaris, Switzerland > Barbla Accola, 1799-?, Davos-Glaris, Switzerland > Anna Wildener, 1772-1832, Davos-Glaris, Switzerland > Barbla Ambuel, 1739-1800, Davos-Platz, Switzerland > Anna Kunzi, 1705- 1741, Davos-Frauenkirch, Switzerland > Greta Bikhel, 1667- 1729, Davos Frauenkirch, Switzerland > Anneli Nierin, ?- 1712, Married 15 Feb 1666- Died Davos, Graubuenden > > That's my maternal line.
