    2. Georgiana Webster
    3. Tish: I don't know whether this will be of any help to you, but some time ago, I posted on the Wentworth List, asking if there were old Street Directories for Hamilton, ON. A lady went to Northwestern University and looked it up and found my husband's grandfather's home, and the address, and his occupation. 1. [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] question on birth registration
    2. Georgiana Webster
    3. Nancy, have you tried applying for a birth certificate from the Ontario Government? When my husband sent for a copy of his father's certificate, we were very surprised to find it had been filed by my husband's own father. In other words he filed his own, many years after his actual birth. Georgiana

    3. So true, we do not give enough "Thanks", to the people who help us. Without all the peole on this list, who have looked things up for me, went to Archives, the Library, and even their own notes. I would never have been able to trace the Caldwells, and Lucks, who were my husbands ancestors. As it is he now has a surprisingly complete history of them, since they arrived from England, in the early 1800's. So, from me, and Bill a big thank you to you all, and you know who you are. This email would be too long to name all of you. Georgiana

    3. Hi Colleen, It's a name I've queried about on this list before, Bertha Broley (parents ? Campbell & Mary Rebecca Broley) b. around August 1890 in Simcoe Cty. Info is from the US 1900 census, and mother's second marriage registration. So far, all suggestions and searches turned up nothing---all leads turned out to be wrong. So I'm hoping for other explanations and leads. 1. [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Earliest Baptisms at Ste Anne's Penetang
    2. Gwen & Fred Patterson
    3. According to the original baptismal register as found in LDS # 1305885, the earliest dated baptism service at Ste Anne's was September 10 1835 conducted by Rev Father E ????? de Tabeau. At that time, Rev Tabeau baptized 31 people, many of whom would appear to be children. The surnames were Berger, Broderick, Chevalier, Cayieux/Cadieux, Cote, Cooly, Desjardins, Farlin/Farling, Fortin, Frechette, Kempline, Lafreniere, Lavallee, Lee, Lereanger/Laranger, Leduc, Lacroix, Langevin, Martin, Mundy (two), Parisien, Rousseau, Roi, Recollet, Sorrell, Starkweather (two), Sylvestre, Trudeau and Vasseur. Some of these did include an approximate age but no birthplaces were given. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of these baptisms is the godparents/sponsors who were listed - another source of the earliest adults in our community. Gwen Patterson
