Don ... You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, of course !!!!!! Apologies to anyone that I may have mis-lead. The information that I gave is correct about WAVERLEY. Vasey has one Church ( United, I believe ) and the Village Cemetery in WEST OF THE Village. I have even plodded thru' it, a couple of times. .... Now you know why I leave a trail of bread-crumbs, when I leave home. HI, Just found an obit for a Margaret Woodburn in our local paper. She died November 23, 1917 in Lockport, New York and it states that she is to be buried in Creemore. Would someone be able to check the cemetery records and let me know if she is buried there and who might be buried with her? I am also looking for the burial of Malcolm McArthur and his wife, Jane Woodburn McArthur, sister of Margaret. Any help is appreciated. Mary Flack Gasport, NY

I believe that date to be about 10 to 15 years away from the truth. He was a man whose years rapidly outstretched the number of decades through which he lived. In 1861, he was 45, and married to Mary in 1833. By 1871, he was claiming to be 60. 1881 census shows him to be age 71. I couldn't find him in 1891. 1861 has Mary age 44. In 1881, notably only two decades later, she also was an astonishing 71. Ten years after that, she was allegedly 90! 'Tis a common phenomenon that I've observed hundreds of times during my transcriptions of successive censii. The older some people get, the more eager they are to reach the vaunted status of octogenarian. Once they achieve that milestone, thay almost invariably attain centenarianhood within less than 15 years. It's just a hint, but you should probably be looking for him to have been baptised between 1804 and 1816. Patricia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thanks Paul, It would have been the United Church the family attended. I have been to the cemetery many times taking photos of the headstones. And attending the burial of my mom's sibling's the latest being her twin sister a few year's ago. I'll quit babbling now. Thanks again Paul. Their daughter, Eleanore, born abt 1825, was married 29 March 1849 to John CORBETT. Since John CUNNINGHAM and Mary REID were both born abt 1810, give or take maybe ten years, it would be impossible for them to be the parents of this William. 1861 census doesn't show them with a son named William; however, it's possible that they may have had a boy of that name that had already left home by the time the 1861 census was taken. Williams present in Essa Twp., in 1861 included: William 1789 Sarah 1801 |__ Andrew, 1841 (This couple are probably William C'HAM Sarah ARNOLD) Aiken C'HAM 1811 Mary 1815 |__ William, 1842 Alexander C'HAM 1826 Ann 1831 |__ William John, 1861 Robert C'HAM 1824 Elizabeth 1829 |__ William James, 1849 Patricia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Actually, there are THREE CHURCHES in VASEY . all within site of one-another. Vasey sits at the junction of (Old Hwy #93) and (Old Hwy #27), both of them formerly Provincial Highways, now BOTH County Roads .. bearing the same numbers. Vasey used to sit astride four Townships - Tiny, Tay, Flos and Medonte. but the Provincial Folks, in their wisdom, have "fixed" all that. The Church of England (Anglican) church is in Tiny, it's cemetery is across the road in Tay. The United Church sits in Flos and (literally) sharing the same cemetery is the third church, which I seem to recall is a splinter Group .. but still well attended. SORRY .. THE NAME WILL NOT COME TO MIND. Next time I drive by, I shall make special note of the name. I had the records from the 1881 census but not the 1861, thank you so much! With the 1851 census missing it is difficult to keep track of the movements of some of the older pioneers of Simcoe County. I am still trying to determine if this John and Mary are actually MINE. I have William Cunningham married to Sarah Arnold in my tree. I'm not 100% certain THIS John and Mary are his parents.
