In Canada, Andrew Cunningham(b1799) and Elizabeth Clark arrived here in 1847 with their children, Robert, Charles, Sarah ( Sally) Ellen and Elizabeth. I am just beginning the search for Andrew's family in Co. Tyrone Ireland now. I have reason to believe his father may have been Samuel but that is unclear. I would like to determine who Andrew's siblings were, in order to determine which of the many Cunninghams in Essa are actually related. I believe they are John ( Mary Reid) William ( Sarah Large) and Aikan ( Mary) however, this is only assumption at this time. What would really open up the extensive Cunningham history in Simcoe County is to determine who Andrew's (Elizabeth Clark)brothers were. From Andrew's descendants here in Canada I have a fairly well documented history. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Molly I have taken the liberty of forwarding your e-mail to a Brett descendant. She is a distant relative of mine and I know that there were several Home Children at Lavender. My grandparents had a boy who returned to England prior to WW I to enlist and I believe that he did not return to Canada afterwards. I have some pictures of him in his uniform and I believe he corresponded with my aunt who must have been near his age. Sorry that he is not yours as I have thought that there is probably someone out there who would appreciate these pictures. The Brett family may also.have pictures of your fellow. The Brett descendant is Thelma Marrin. Hope you have success. Hi Bill: Many thanks for your email. No, I have not seen the book on Adjala, and the story on the Hamilton Family. Can you provide the full name, and the Library Number ? I am specifically interested in the Elizabeth White-John Hamilton family. I have most (all) of their direct descendents, but nothing on the 2nd or 3rd generations. Elizabeth was the younger sister of my grandfather, John White. John White married Priscilla Cobean (b 1842). Priscilla was the daughter of John Cobean & Hannah Fleming. John Cobean was the son of John Cobean & Mary ????. John White & Priscilla Cobean eventually moved to the 3rd Line, Mono, near Mono Centre, and in 1890, to Orangeville. I would be quite interested, and appreciative of any other information, and possible photos of these families. I have extensive info on the White Families of Albion, Adjala & Mono, that I will share with interested parties. George White, who married Hannah Hurst, lived on L2 Con 4, Adjala. George died at a young age, but his son, and grandson, maintained the Adjala Farm until 1936. Hi John: I wonder if you are also researching McAlister genealogy. My great grandmother, born in Nottawasaga, was Ruth McAlister, b. 17 Nov., 1841. Her father, Robert McAlister was born in April of 1817 in Carnbeg, Islay and her grandparents, Godfrey & Jennet McAlister were born on Islay in 1787 & 1792, respectively. They emigrated to Nottawasaga in the 1830s, probably as a result of the Clearances. Am interested in sharing information with others of the same family. I have photographs both identified and unidentified of family members as well as snapshots of the three areas where the McAlisters lived in Islay. If you go to the Ontario Locator at: http://www.geneofun.on.ca/db.php You will see that there are several places in Ontario which include the name of Nation, ie The Nation, Val Nation... but none are in Simcoe county. However you can search through the "N" list and perhaps find what you are looking for. Cheers! Would any one happen to have a transcription for the Dunedin Cemetery in Dunedin, Ontario? I have been informed that my Woodburn family might be buried there and would like to get confirmation of this. I am looking for William Woodburn, his wife Mary and daughter, Margaret, and possibly another daughter named Mary. Any help is appreciated. Mary Flack Gasport, NY
