Hi Paul, I am familiar with the wall of pictures as I volunteer at the hospital and used to work there. The picture that groups 1906-1908 does not contain the 1908 class, so I am hoping someone might have a picture in their family collection. Donald Cameron is not a relation, but he was a very popular director of the hospital. He made daily rounds to ALL areas of the hospital to speak to the staff and it made for a family like atmosphere. That doesn't happen anymore!! Rod Neep, Founder of the Archive CD Books Project, Retires. International digitizing project continues through other partner companies The International Archive CD Books Project -- 1 October 2007 -- Effective immediately, Rod Neep, the founder of the Archive CD Books project, is retiring and closing the doors of "Archive CD Books, Ltd.," the British partner company in the international digitization project. The remaining partner companies in Australia, Canada, Ireland, and the United States carry on with the project, however, and will continue to add to the project's large inventory of digital reproductions of old and rare books that are of interest to family historians. Mr. Neep started the Archive CD Books Project in 2000 as a result of recognizing a need to make certain old and rare documents more readily available to genealogy researchers and family historians. The growth of his business was explosive and within three years he had made more than 1,500 valuable titles available through his company web site. At about the same time, he was instrumental in setting up two new independent partner companies in Australia and Canada. Since then he has added two more companies in the USA and Ireland. Thus the International Archive CD Books Project took shape and continues to develop its inventory of valuable reproductions. As always, each of the partner companies will continue to provide access to the Archive CD Books international inventory through its own web site while focusing on the digitization of additional works that were originally published in the local country. Each remaining partner company also has plans to make digital reproductions of some material that was originally published in Great Britain, continuing the good work of the project's founder. Rod Neep said "I am really happy that the concept of the Archive CD Books project will be continuing in the safe hands of the international partners, and I wish them all the best of success in the future". "We wish Rod every happiness and success as he moves on to take up new interests, many of which we understand will involve a golf course," said a spokesman for the other partner companies. "We are already in the process of making sure that Rod's customers will be looked after and we have plans for some exciting announcements in the near future," he said. The principals in the remaining partner companies are Alan & Stephen Phillips (Australia), Chris and Malcolm Moody (Canada), Brian Donovan (Ireland), and Bob Velke (USA). About the Project: The Archive CD Books Project exists to make digital reproductions of old books and other materials available to the public, to donate original publications to libraries and other institutions, and to cooperate with these repositories to preserve their existing collections for future generations. Author: jimaguire Surnames: Hughes Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.ontario.simcoe/2544/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am interested in any information regarding Patrick Hughes, who arrived in Canada in 1832 from Co. Armagh, Ireland, and settled shortly thereafter in the Tecumseth area. He had several children, two of whom included John (born 1817 in Armagh) and George P. (born 1834 in Ontario). There were other Hughes families listed in Simcoe County records during that same era, and would be interested if any of these are related. I am sorry I have nothing on Patrick Hughes, but I am searching another family, that of Mary Margaret MacGinnis, also from County Armagh, also arrived in the 1830s, and also settled in Tecumseth. Have you by any chance the passenger list of the ship on which Patrick Hughes arrived, please? Perhaps they all came together. Thank you Anna --------------------------------- Got a little couch potato? Check out fun summer activities for kids.

Marjorie ... HAVE YOU TAKEN A LOOK IN THE R.V.H. ( 2ND Floor ) There is a picture there of Helen Shanahan ( Head Nurse ) Donald Cameron C.E.O., and several of various Graduating Classes of Nurses, over the years. These used to hang in the Old R.V.H., before the move. Was Donald Cameron any relation ? Now THERE is a portrait painting !!!!!!! Paul Robins -----Original Message----- From: can-ont-simcoe-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:can-ont-simcoe-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Marjorie McQuay Sent: October-01-07 8:38 AM To: can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] 1908 Nurses at R.V.H., Barrie This is a long shot, but I wonder if there are any pictures out there of the five nurses who graduated as nurses from Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, in June, 1908. One of them was my great aunt, Rose Cameron. A very descriptive report of the graduation in the Barrie Examiner of June 11, 1908 lists the graduates as Miss Mabel Fisher of Cookstown, Miss Rose Cameron, Shanty Bay, Miss Annie Atkinson, Wiarton, Miss Jennie Thompson, Stayner and Miss Alma McDonald, of Toronto. There was no 1908 class picture available for a book containing pictures and names of the nurses by the Alumni in the 1980's, so I think the only source might be a family collection. Does anyone on the Simcoe County list remember Mina FRASER? She died in November, 1959. This is Mina's date of death as it appears on the William FRASER & Eliza HOGDON stone in the Auld Kirk Cemetery in West Gwillimbury Township. I wonder whether Mina is their grand-daughter. I don't know where she was born or when. With thanks for any help or suggestions, Frances
