    3. Hi Tracy, Sorry. We have no Ontario connection to Gilbert. Our Gilbert name has French origins and has been shortened from Gilbert dit Comtois, immigrants to Quebec in the 1750s. Christol James Gilbert

    3. Hi Ann and Brenda Try the North Meols Family History Society in Lancashire, England at www.nmfhssouthport.co.uk My maternal grandmother's people all came from there. It was an insular community with many intermarriages. They settled in Banks, Grey County, at the top of the mountain, just west of Collingwood in c1872. There are MANY BALLS in North Meols. Church records, BMDs back to the late 1500's, exist. I have the BALL extracts. Give me an immigrant's name. 3. Hi Jopie Loughhead was a great support as I searched my Simcoe County roots. She sent me details of their settlement and many newspaper clippings over more than a decade. She was active on both the Simcoe County Rootsweb list and through the Bruce Grey Ontario Genealogical Society. She was a great contributor to the Simcoe County Roostweb list. Through it she raised the profile of Collingwood and likely drew many visitors to town. I have saved 61 instances of her contributions to Simcoe County genealogy on my computer data base. She is very deserving of recognition by the Awarding of the Order of Collingwood. 1. [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Nominations for the Order of Collingwood, Jopie LOUGHEAD & Owen NOBLE
    2. Lynne Kemp
    3. Hi List Members: Carole Stuart of the Collingwood Library has put forth the names of Jopie LOUGHEAD (posthumously) and Owen NOBLE to be considered for the honour of the Order of Collingwood for all their hard work and contributions they have made to the local history and genealogy in the area. I have sent Carole a letter supporting her nomination and stating the reasons I feel they are deserving of this award. Since I know that Jopie and Owen have helped many people with their research, I thought maybe some of you would like to send notes or letters to Carole Stuart supporting her nomination. If you feel you would like to do this, please e-mail her at: cstuart@town.collingwood.on.ca Thanks so much for reading this. Regards, Lynne Kemp. _________________________________________________________________ R U Ready for Windows Live Messenger Beta 8.5?
