    3. I do a service -I call it Lifesaver's I record on video's of a person's life story I did a video about 2 years ago of a nice lady. She is now deceased. Daughter was asking if she could see the video. I was shocked -thought it would have been in mom's stuff -but no! I sat daughter down to view -expecting tears! I only heard laughter -the daughter was so grateful. Of course I made daughter a copy. ****** I use the book "write your own life story" for the ?. It is a fun time for me -and I make a little money. A big shared treasure - daughter had never heard some of stories. Lady Patricia

    3. Hi Charles Thanks for spotting these records. There is an updated Comparison Chart on AllCensusRecords.com which lists available projects for the Canadian census records (with clickable links) http://allcensusrecords.com/canada/ click on the top left where it says "comparison chart for those in a hurry" There are links to the census for various years on Ancestry, FamilySearch, LAC, AutomatedGenealogy, OGSPI, OntarioGenWeb. A brief description of what each website has is also given - indexes + images, no index, no images, transcriptions, etc. Lorine On 6/11/09, Charles Dobie <[email protected]> wrote: > Lorine, > > Sorry -- my first attempt contained html so arrived at the list empty. > > > From the ogs website <http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi/welcome.htm> I've > copied the following wards and folios from the 1861 census. > Presumably the links are for the other censuses. > > 1861 Toronto City [44821] > <http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi/5/5.htm#tor>1851 > <http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi/7/7.htm#tor>1871 > <http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi/8/8.htm#tor>1881 > <http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi/9/9.htm#tor>1891 > 027 Saint Andrew's Ward [6252] C1101,2,3 lds0390240 > 028 Saint David's Ward [7904] C1103,4 lds0390241,2 > 029 Saint George's Ward [2823] C1104,5 lds0390243 > 030 Saint James' Ward [8406] C1105,6 lds0390244,5 > 031 Saint John's Ward [8634] C1106,7,8 lds0390246,7,8 > 032 Saint Lawrence Ward [3681] C1108,9 lds0390249 > 033 Saint Patrick's Ward [5809] C1109,10 lds0390250,1 > 034 Institutions [1912] C1109,10 lds0390250,1 > > Also, are people aware that the indexes for these censuses are on the > LDS website? Email is Iai[email protected] Alternate <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] *************** I have no known connection to this Family . ,but have a thought , on the above. There was a time, in Scotland, when the the Old "LIARDS" ( OR OWNERS OF THE LAND ) , came to the conclusion that there was more money, to be made in grazing sheep, on their lands, than renting it out to 'CROFTERS". So, that period of time became known as the HIGHLAND CLEARANCES .........and the tenants were evicted, with no place to go. They left Scotland, by the thousands, for Canada, Australia, or anyplace else that would take them in. 3. Hello, This may help some of you in an enquiry re the Canadian National Registry 1940. Thanks to information from Irvin & Chris, I was able to email to: Jacques Dubois Sous Sous-Section des Microfilms et des Recherches aux Fins des Pensions(Recensement) Census Microfilm and Pension Search Sub-Unit Tel:(613)951-4571 Fax:(613)951-4574 [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> to ask if my uncle, (who entered boxingcompetitions) from Hamilton, Ontario was listed in the registry, giving his place and dob, and parents' names. The free response after a few weeks was that he wasn't. Had he been in the registry, I would have had to provide the specified documentation and $ to get the additional information, of course. This "not in the registry" information has helped to solidify the family story that he had gone to USA to look for work. Now to find a US trace...! Any suggestions on this one? Thanks. Eileen

    3. Morning Pam I live in Kent county. I have been tramping old cemeteryies lately. Our Chatham library has an excellent index for old cemeteries. I was heading to the library in the next couple of days. Is there any way I can help you? Ron Wingrove -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Pam Tessier Sent: Sunday, June 07, 2009 7:30 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Cemetery history Good one, Deb! My ancestors' graves got flooded too many times and while the stones were preserved (until some nincompoop kids used them for target practice a few years ago) their bones were likely swept down the Thames River in Kent County. What is left of the cemetery is on the unregistered list. You might all consider joining the Ontario Genealogical Society in their fight to have unregistered cemeteries recognized by the province. You would probably be surprised at the cemeteries in your area that you may not be aware of that exist solely at the whim of an individual (or organization) who happens to own the plot of land. The following is from the OGS website: "The Ontario Genealogical Society is aware of about 1 200 unregistered cemeteries in this province. "Unregistered" means that the provincial government does not recognize it as a cemetery and so it has no legal protection. It can be removed at whim and without notice. We have been attempting to get them registered but the Registrar, Cemeteries Act (Revised), has informed us that it is up to the owner of the land where the cemetery is located to apply to have it registered. The Registrar will not simply add them to his list as was done by his predecessor in the early 1990s. Leaving this situation in the hands of the land owners is not satisfactory as they have no incentive to register the cemetery. Therefore we are appealing to you for help." Incidentally, one cemetery many of us are familiar with is on the unregistered list: Copeland's Hill. Click on the link to see what you can do to help and to discover which cemeteries are located in your township or area. It is one thing to talk but another to act! http://www.ogs.on.ca/services/unreg_cemeteries.php Pam Tessier ***************** Ten People All Genealogists Should Follow On Twitter: http://tr.im/hBAy Simcoe Co. 3. The local records show the baptisms of 6 children. One child is presumably a stillborn child, no sex mentioned, baptised in July 1888. Another son died at birth in 1896. Son Daniel became a priest in 1922 and another son married in February of 1918. I've only found a military record for Alphonsus, so far. Pam [email protected] wrote: > Now I am curious.
