Author: ShaunMilligan50 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.ontario.simcoe/2676/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I visited the pioneer cemetery at Sunnidale Corners this past weekend and noticed several of the tombstone knocked over and broken. The slab of cement that is below them has caved in. It looks to me that the soil underneith the cement had been washed away causing this slab of cement to cave in. Does anybody know who's responsible for looking after this cemetery? Also, there's a lot of shrubs planted in front of the tombstones making it impossible to even read the stones. It might be a good idea to have them trimmed. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was in his seventy-fourth year, having been born near Edgar in 1846. He was a grandson of John Thompson, one of the pioneers of Oro, who settled in that Township in 1827. Mr. Thompson was well known in both Oro and Medonte. He was a councillor in the latter Township a few years ago, and was always deeply interested in public affairs. He was twice married, first in 1867 to Clara Harrington, who died in 1874. His children by this marriage were Mrs. H.G. Hamilton, of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Anna Craig, of Dixon, Illinois; and Mrs. W.J. Thompson, of Youngstown, Ohio. In 1879, he was married a second time to Margaret C.
