    2. Hi, Mrs. Mary Rose is my great aunt.  Especially her one son William Rose lived in Saskatchewan according to Mary's obituary in the Stayner Sun and Toronto Star.  I have not been able to find her son though in Saskatchewan but her daughter's daughter in Alberta told me William never married.  I feel William perhaps worked for the railway so possibly was not home a lot and so, only rented. Would you be connected to the Rose family? 1. [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] have you seen this.....?

    3. Yesterday while searching for information on early Quebec census returns, I stumbled on a website I had never used before and for a few minutes we had a great time playing with the different databases. What a wealth of information is on this website if you have an interest in New France. It provides statistics on the population from the early census returns. By selecting the 1851 census for Ontario it was easy to see that most areas of Simcoe County are not included. Take a minute out of your busy lives and have a bit of fun discovering your neighbours' secrets....... if you had lived in early Canada! The information on the early census returns will give you conversation material to dazzle people with your intelligence for years to come. http://estat.statcan.gc.ca/cgi-win/cnsmcgi.pgm?Lang=eng&ESTATFile=Estat/English/SC_RR-eng.htm <http://estat.statcan.gc.ca/cgi-win/cnsmcgi.pgm?Lang=eng&ESTATFile=Estat/English/SC_RR-eng.htm> Copy and paste into your browser address window. 3. In Agincourt, Ontario, there was a Al Batty or Baty, too. He would be in his 90's now. I have located my ancestor in the index to the 1871 Simcoe census, but would very much appreciate knowing who else is listed in his household and the particulars of the household. My ancestor was Thomas Batty. Census citation is: Hi Nancy The name "Batty" caught my attention right away . My Aunt Sarah Selina Tate and husband Joseph or Orillia, Simcoe County, Ontario, had no children of their own for whatever reason but they did have a British Home Child from about 1909 to 1913 or so ( dates from memory). She was Elsie Dorothy Batty born England . A British Home Child who had a sister but I can't remember the name. Sarah Selina wanted very much to adopt this little one but it was not to be. Her mother picked her up and from there I know nothing. This little information came from the Barnardo Home in England. I have been hoping to find descendents Batty. From the pictures I have she was a well loved happy little girl. I will look up the 1871 for you but it may take a day or so. Rob McGinn in Thunder Bay
