    3. Hi Listers, Does anyone know of Alexander Brownlee, a blacksmith, born 1828 in Greenlaw, Borders of Scotland, who migrated with his family in 1866 to Simcoe, Ontario and who died in 1912 in Barrie? Or of his wife Mary Brownlee nee Stoddart who was born in the Borders of Scotland in 1829 and who died in 1908 and is buried at St Thomas' Anglican Church? Or any of their descendants? Alexander's parents are my great great grandparents. Any information on this family would be much appreciated. TIA (Mr) Pen Brown, in wintry New Zealand [email protected]

Dave Ingram direct e-mail address: [email protected] PS; Your name sounded familiar and in checking my files I found the following message sent to you in 2007 which received no reply? Nice to hear from you. Sorry I can't help with any information about a midwife in Janetville. While checking my files I did find the name David Graham as one of the 30 Grahams recorded so far in my family tree. He doesn't sound like yours but maybe he might be connected to some of your relatives? It has been quite a while since we touched base and I wondered if you would like to compare notes as we seem to have so many family names in common in Manvers and Cavan. If you send me a Gedcom file of your Graham ancestors and related families, I could run it through a new software program I have which compares Gedcom for matching information and possible matches.. The program will produce a report for each of us showing the detailed findings. This would be an easy way to compare your the 5,410 individuals in my family tree with yours to see if we are missing anything. Dave ___________________________________________________

His first wife may have died prior to 1868, because on February 3, 1868 he married Margaret McAuley, daughter of Norman McAuley and Euphemia McKenzie. Charles and his new wife moved to Peel County, then to Michigan, then back to Essex County, where he died in 1894.His children with his first wife were scattered around with different families in the 1871 census. He had 6 more children with his new wife. Now I wish I knew the whole story - did Charles's new wife not want to raise another woman's kids? Was the new wife more important than the kids he already had? Did he think they were old enough to go to work? The youngest was only 8. This is the kind of information you don't find in databases!
