    3. Hi, Can anyone help me with the MODERN-day location of the Lundy Burial Grounds? I have the location as Lot 10 Concession 3 East, Chinguacousy. I believe this is at the intersection of Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive, on the south side of Bovaird, but I'm not at all sure of that. An actual street address would be wonderful! Also, is there any signage for the Cemetery? Any help appreciated! Thanks, Gay

    3. Hi Gay, By a bit of judicious Googling I have found a by-law announcement for 2007 which refers to "Lot 18, Concession 3 East of Hurontario Street, in the Town of Caledon (formerly Township of Chinguacousy), Regional Municipality of Peel." Obviously not the specific Lot you are looking for, but if the Lot / Concession identities have remained the same through the intervening changes in local authority etc., etc., then it will give you a locale for Lot 10. From the description I would take it that Hurontario Street formed the baseline for the town layout so it would define the "base" of the rectangular concession / lot layout. The lot sizes were well defined (although I don't remember them off the top of my head) so you should be able to determine how far 8 Lots should be. It's always a bit of a challenge to relate old land grant locations to modern day development unless you can find an original grant map of the area and do the temporal translation through the geographic features. One source for original land grant locations are the "Illustrated Historical Atlases" which were originally published by several companies in the late 1800's through the early 1900's and have been reproduced "to death"' subsequently. Most are also available on-line so try a Google. Don't know if this is going to be any help but it opens a couple of avenues if nothing else. Malcolm Archive CD Books Canada Inc. 3. Gay, That sounds about right. The transcription I have says, "West side of Dixie Road about 1 mile north of Hwy. 7. It is adjacent to and immediately north of Mount Olivet." I have posted a map of Chinguacousy Twp. on my website that shows the lots and concessions as well as who was listed on them in 1837: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/u/n/S-m-joan-Hunter/PHOTO/0007p hoto.html Current street names are on it as well. 3. Hi Joan: It appears the last part of the URL needs to be underlined to work.
