    1. Re Badgerow Gamey
    2. Ida & Merle King
    3. Hi Richard Thanks for the rundown on Lafayette & Sarah... I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Sorry I don't belong to the Badgerow list as this is not a direct line of mine. According to the Article in Split Rail Co pg 183 Layfayette married Sarh Gamey, One year later she died in childbirth along with the baby girl. A year later he married Mary Lumley a daughter of Tom & Emma Lumley. To them were born six children, Sarah, John, David, Florence, Olive and Lottie. A severe epidemic of diphtheria was in the neighbourhood when the third child David was two years old and died.. The home was under quarantine, his mother could not go to the burial. His father Layfayette, who was staying with a neighbor, Herb Dyson, on the farm later owned by Murray Betts, took the boy to the cemetery on County Road west of Maxwell and buried him alongside his first wife and baby daughter.... ---------- My ? to Pam was how many cemeteries are there nr Maxwell? Re reply: There are 4 in Maxwell, two are very small. Old Pioneer Gamey John Gamey, died April 19, 1887 aged 64 years, His wife Sarah Mey, died April 16, 1900 aged 52 years. Sarah Jane Gamey, wife of Lay Badgerow, died December 14, 1886, aged 22 years. Also her daughter, Sarah J. died December 31, 1886 aged 1 month. No mention of a son. ----------- According to early transcripts from Bruce and Grey marriages 1858-1869 it mentions the following. Gamey, John 30 Osprey, Ireland, s/o Thomas & Mary, m 23 Feb 1858 Sarah Wilson 19 Osprey, Ireland d/o John & Sarah. Now I'm wondering if the Sarah MEY could be an transcribing or engraving error for Emily.. ----------- The article continues on and reports that Layfayette died in the house he was born in on January 12, 1937. He never owned a car nor did he drive a power operated machine or implement. Do you know which cemetery he would be buried in. Numerous Badgerow's are found in the Flesherton cemetery but not Layfette, at least in the transcripts... ---------- I checked the 1861, 1871, census transcripts and can not locate any Gamey/Gamley or Lumley families in Artemesia. These families might be from the Osprey area for which I don't have the transcripts for.. Any thoughts??? thanks Ida [email protected] wrote: > > Hi Ida, > > I have Lafayette Badgerow married Sarah Jane Gamely on Feb. 1, 1882. > His parents were Samuel & Sarah Badgerow. > Her parents were John & Emily Gamely. > Lafayette 1858-1947. > Sarah 1864-1886. > Everything occurred in Artemesia Twp., Grey Co., Ontario, Canada. > > Richard W.Thomas
