To all:- Whenever stuffed envelopes arrive at my mailbox, destined for Senator Lorna Milne on YOUR behalf, I thought about the value of a 48-cent stamp - Canadian postage. Many of the envelopes contain only one signature -- these mount up and every one is important. Other envelopes contain many signatures, from all parts of Canada. Many envelopes comes from exotic -sounding places -- Australia, Hawaii, Scotland and my granddaughter is doing some work in United Kingdom and France. When one places the stamp on the envelope, it is with hopes and thoughts of the future -- being able to view OUR personal Canadian heritage and history -- the Post-1901 Canadian Census Records. These will allow us to finish our family histories, search for missing family members -- honestly, I feel each sender forwards his/her dreams of the census being available to all of us. Census petitions are needed -- do not think the announcement by the Hon. Don Boudria was the release of records -- our 1911 are not due until June 2003 -- the 1906 WAS due in 1998. It seems strange we have to PROVE to those in Ottawa that WE desire our census records, intact -- no missing bits and pieces. WE do NOT have to prove this fact to Senator Lorna Milne or Murray Calder, M.P. They are family researchers (also Murray's mother) working for US. Download your selected petitions, House of Commons and Senate for Canadians in Canada and for Snowbirds with a permanent Canadian address -- all others select Non-Resident, please.
