Hello Fellow Listers! I have just received this week the Justice File from the National Archives of the COOK TEETS murder trial in 1884. This man was married for a very short time to my great great aunt ROSANNAH LEPPARD. She was poisoned by aresenic and he was arrested, tried and convicted. However, as I have stumbled onto this story and founds bits of information, it appeared to me that this blind man was most likely innocent of the crime and some other person killed Rosannah. I am more firmly convinced of this now. Included in the file are 2 petitions for clemency sent to Ottawa. One is from 3 Barristers in Ontario - the signatures are questionable so I will try to get as close as I can: SAMUEL PLATT of OWEN SOUND JOHN CREASOR? of OWEN SOUND S. NEVEE? - does not say where he is from The second petitions has 181 men's names (with occupations listed) on it!!! Most of the homes are listed as ARTEMESIA, EUPHRASIA, FLESHERTON, or MARKDALE. At some point I will try to get this list typed up as best I can (transcription of signatures is so much fun!!) and post it to this list.
