    1. [Grey Co.] McLean/McInnis/McQuarrie
    2. Thanks to the replies to my query I have cleared up a discrepancy in Bruce McQuarrie's book in progress- he is writing a book about the McQuarrie's in Ontario and their connections with other pioneer families who left Scotland. He is from the family who went to the US first and then settled in Maple/Toronto. Part of this family is Hector, the postmaster of Badjeros, John C, the judge in Toronto, and the mother of Max Aiken, Lord Beaverbrook, and Harvey of Osprey. He has written the chapter about the McQuarrie's of Shrigley. I have made a lot of discoveries with the BMD index for him. He listed Margaret of that family as marrying a Neil McLean and living in Eyebrow SK. I found that he was missing one of the girls, Catherine, and it is this Catherine that is missing and it is she not Margaret who married Neil. Margaret married William Tough Stewart also of Shrigley. I have interest in that marriage because William's mother was a Redpath. The Redpaths also were early settlers in Shrigley and Stella McQuarrie, of my line, also married into the Redpath family. Addie McQuarrie did marry a John Lachlan McLean of Osprey, son of Lachlan McLean. I haven't found the McLean's under this name in Osprey. Addie died in Singhampton, her marriage is in 1903 so they are not on the census for Nottawasaga. Her name is listed as Lottie in another reference. Thanks to a list member I got information on the death of Elizabeth McQuarrie married to Archibald McInnis. Now to find the descendents of 6 daughters and a son. Elizabeth was a full sister to my g-grandfather John Lachlan McQuarrie. Elizabeth married the brother of her step mother, Mary McLean who married Harvey McQuarrie of Osprey. An older sister, Sarah, married a McRae and is in Toronto in 1931 on the obit of Mary. Because of several sources, I am now aiming my search for John Lachlan McQuarrie to Glen Huron/Smithdale near Singhampton. He is apparently alive in 1912 but not listed as living in 1935. I know he married a Margaret Shears in Fergus in 1898. I think I found Margaret, now called Treszur M., on the death index. Her father is John Sheares. Is this my John after so long a search??? How frustrating it has been to have the archives down this weekend. Bonnie in California
