Hi Susan McLeans hummm one of my favorite families. nice to meet you.. In the 1851 census for Bentinck, widow Mary McLean age 45 from the H of Sct. Free Church of Sct. appears with children, Catherine age 21, Mary Flora age 19, Christina age 11, Flora age 7 they appear on Con 1 Lot 7 WGR. following those entries is a Malcolm McLean age 23 single. I would presume another child of the widow McLean. 1861 census for Bentinck, widow McLean age 54 FC with children Cristy age 18, and Flory age 16. In the h/h previous to this one lives Malcolm 32, and his wife Mary 30 and children Cristy 9, Mary 8, Catherine 6, F A 4 (Flora in 1871) Sharlot (Charlet in 1871) 1. Farm Lanes of Bentinck history book. pg 58 Lot 7 Division 1 Con 1 WGR reports widow McLean and son Malcolm owned this property. Also an interesting mention of other owners James Jones...humm... On the 1871 census, she is with her husband, James Jones, in Bentinck in South Grey. I have no information on her parents or siblings but do have descendants. Mary McLean is a very common name.
