Knox, George KNUFF, Jr., of the Township of Collingwood to Emma, daughter of Joseph VICKERS, Esq., of the Township of Nottawasaga. P8c3 E. & C. M. June 28, 1894 Death: Dr. R. LUNAN. Copied from the Dundee Scotland Advertiser, kindly lent by a friend, the Enterprise copies the following regarding a member of the Lunan family, so well known hereabouts. Dr. R. LUNAN was born at Kinnettles, near Forfar, in 1818. His father, the Rev. Robert LUNAN a native of Lethendy, was a clergyman there, and was married twice, the doctor being a son of his first wife. Of that family there were a son, William, and two daughters. Mr. William LUNAN was Treasurer to the Scottish North Eastern Railway while it existed. One of the sisters was married to Simon ROBERTSON, at one time Harbor master at Dundee, and the other was the wife of the late Dr. EDWARDS, of Forfar. The Rev. G. B. LUNAN, Newtyle was a son of the second marriage. The late Dr. LUNAN studied at Edinburgh University, where he took his degree as surgeon. He then went to Forfar and acted as assistant to his uncle, Dr. W. SMITH, Provost of Forfar. He also made a voyage to Davis Straits aboard a whaler. It was in 1836 that he settled in Blairgowrie, and he soon gave evidence of that energy and independence which has characterized everything he has done since. Dr. LUNAN married Miss RO! BERTSON, a daughter of Mr. ROBERTSON, farmer, Mains of Clunie, and had 12 children, seven of whom survive him. They are Mr. William LUNAN, and Mr. P. R. LUNAN, Merchants, Glasgow; Dr. C. S. LUNAN, Blairgowrie (who has succeeded to his father's practice); Mr. K. LUNAN, India; Mrs. J. KIDD, Mains of Errol; the Rev. Mrs. STEWART, Blairgowrie; and Miss Elizabeth LUNAN, who resided with her father. Notwithstanding the fact that "the old Doctor", as Dr. LUNAN was familiarly called, had been off the active list for a number of years past, there are few in the district to whom his death will not cause heartfelt regret. In all respects Dr. LUNAN was a rare old gentleman, and his name will be held in affectionate remembrance for a generation to come.
