Hello Bill. I believe you should be looking in Huron County. The Township of Grey is in Huron Township. This is confusing. From 1856 on it was on its own until 2001 when it was amalgamated into Huron East Municipality. I think you should begin by looking at Huron County Census for 1861 and 1871. There is a John McGregor listed in the 1871 census index at www.collectionscanada.ca MCGREGOR , JOHN Sex: Male Age: 26 Birthplace: ONTARIO Religion: Canada Presbyterian/C. Presb. Origin: SCOTCH Occupation: Farmer ( F ) District: HURON NORTH ( 026 ) Sub-district: Grey ( J ) Division: 2 Page: 30 Microfilm reel: C-9932 Reference: RG31 - Statistics Canada There are other John McGregors listed in Huron County. When I searched his name with a Huron County location, it came up with no records found. I redid the search with his name and all districts in the search terms and found the above listing.
