I've used Automated Genealogy to try to locate them both the 1901 census, but was unsuccessful. At that time they would not have been married, but would have been only 19 and 15 respectively. John Clark McDonald (my great-grandfather) father's name was Alexander, but went by Sandy. I do not know his mother's name. There is a John C McDonald listed in the census for the town of Durham with Alexander as the head and born in the right year, but have been told by my father that he is pretty sure this is not the right one, since that John's siblings are all names that my dad has never heard before. And I don't have Elizabeth's parents names. Her last name has been spelled both 'Weigle' and 'Weigel' - I tried both, as well as Wiegel and Wiegle. No Elizabeth anywhere in the 1901 census. I cannot find them at all in the 1911 census either. My grandmother (Violet) was born in 1907 and her name is no where to be found. This I find very strange, as I have been told that they were definitely living in Durham at that time. I believe they were on Garafraxa Street in Durham, as I found my grandmothers birth registration on the Ontario Vital Statistics site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~births/McD_McJ_Surnames.htm as such: #017429-07 (Grey Co) McDONALD, Voilet(?Violet) Clara, f, b. 10 May 1907, father – John Clark McDONALD, laborer; mother – Elizabeth WEIGLE, infm – Elizabeth McDonald, Garafraxa St., Durham Here's the rest of the info I have: John C. McDonald b. 1882 d.1969 Elizabeth Weigle b. 1886 d. 1935 (My father remembers John being a mail carrier and he also operated a livery.) John and Elizabeth's children: Lillian May b. 1904 d. 1927 Violet Clara b. 1907 d. 2003 Lylia b. ? d. ? Charles b. ? d. ? Kathleen b. ? d. 2004 Clara b. ? d. ? John A (a.k.a. Sonny) b. 1927 d. 1935 The way they are listed, are the order they were born in - that much I do know. I also know Elizabeth and Sonny were killed in a car accident in 1935 and would like to get more info on that (sorry I cannot get more specific on the tie of year it occurred).
