    3. In 1901, Shelburne Village is a sub-district all to itself in Grey County. Where is it in 1911? Ontario Locator ignores it. It doesn't get listed in the historical Atlas project website. -- Glen Johnson Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wmjohnson1832

    3. Hi Glen, Shelburne is part of Dufferin County, which borders on Grey. It was acquired on 24 Jan 1881 however, as I found out from the Dufferin County Museum and Archives website (http://www.dufferinmuseum.com/): 1881 Jan. 24 County of Dufferin proclaimed officially. Includes East Garafraxa, Amaranth and Orangeville from Wellington County; Melancthon and Shelburne from Grey County; Mono and Mulmur from Simcoe County Regards, Kim --- Glen Johnson <dancer1@ns.sympatico.ca> wrote: > In 1901, Shelburne Village is a sub-district all to > itself in Grey County. > Where is it in 1911? 3. Thanks to Edith, Marg, Bonnie, & Kim for the point in the right direction. Ontario Locator returned 2 Shelburnes so it was impossible to guess which if either would be right. In the 1901 census, Shelburne is reported as part of Grey County, and yet it was not in that county for the previous 20 years! In any case, it didn't help me find the family I was looking for. -- Glen Johnson Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wmjohnson1832 -----Original Message----- From: Kim Watson [mailto:kim.watson@rogers.com] Sent: Sunday, April 09, 2006 9:26 PM To: CAN-ONT-GREY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Grey Co.] Shelburne Hi Glen, Shelburne is part of Dufferin County, which borders on Grey.
