Hi all, I am at a loss so I hope s.k.s will be able to help me fill in a few pieces. I am searching for Jacob MERKEL, born abt 1822 in Germany. He married Phillipina GOCKEL, also born abt 1822 in Germany and they came to Canada prior to 1858. I found Jacob on the 1871 census in Bruce County. Then in 1881 he, along with Phillipina and two daughters Katherina and Minnie, are in Normanby twp. Katherina is my gg-grandmother. I have her death registration and know that she was born in Neustadt. I am trying to find out what happened to Jacob and Phillipina. I am ASSUMING that they remained in Grey county as Katherina married and raised her family there. I've searched OFCA and found a Johan Jacob MERKEL at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran cemetery in Neustadt, but am not sure if this is him. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
