I am trying to find out the surname of Alexander McCausland's first wife. I have seen her first name as Agnes but also as Nancy. As the daughters would have married before registrations became a requirement. Does anyone have access to other information that would help me find the answer. Hi, Lakeview Cemetery has McCausland, Alexander, 1810 - Oct. 1, 1898; aged 88 years and 6 months. His wife, Agnes Bole, 1806 - October 24, 1874; aged 68 years and 10 months. Native of Co. Down, Ireland. Nancy and Agnes are often used for the same person. The Meaford Monitor of November 20, 1874 has: Died: On the 24th of October, Agnes, wife of Alexander McCAUSLAND, St. Vincent, aged 68 years. Native of Ireland. Settled here in the spring of 1838. The same paper of January 19, 1871 has: Married: On the 18th inst., Martin STOUTENBURG of Collingwood Township to Margaret McCAUSLAND of St. Vincent Township. Grey County marriages, 1869 - 1873 has marriages for Nancy McCAUSLAND and Amelia McCAUSLAND, in both the mother is referred to as Nancy Bole.
