I am researching the Christoffer/Christoffers family which settled in Normanby Twp., Grey Co., by 1861. They moved to Bentinck Twp. about 1875. They were from Mecklenburg in Germany. The father was Christian Christoffers 1818 - 1895). The mother was Sophia Tebultz (1833 - 1908). Their children were: Maria Christoffers (1854 - 1934) who married Henry Lembke Dorette Christoffers (1860 - 1928) who married John Berk and moved to Kansas Christian Henry Christoffer (1862 - 1927) who married Susanna Schaefer and moved to Saskatchewan Frederick Christoffers (1867 - 1938) who married Elizabeth Reid Hastie and moved to Bruce Co. I do not know when they came to Canada and where they lived before they came to Grey Co. Their eldest daughter, Maria, may have been born in Mecklenburg or while the family was in transit. They attended the Evangelical Brethren church when they lived in Normanby Twp and switched to the Methodist Church when they lived in Bentinck Twp. Lois Sparling Calgary, Alberta
