Hi Is anyone from Grey Co. currently living in Manitoba? I am looking for information on James William Mason born March 31, 1871 in Brampton, Ontario. His family was living around the MARKDALE area. When James was four years old his father, John Mason suddenly died of a heart attack in November of 1875 around Markdale. Jame's mother Susan Tribble Mason was unable to look after her six boys and very carfully selected homes for them. Susan soon died afterwards as well. James was sent to a home in Manitoba possibly to an Alex and Maria Williams in Rockwood, Selkirk, Manitoba. This is just a guess based on census records and could be the wrong James Mason. James is said to have died at some point in time in RIDING MOUNTIAN, Manitoba and possibly had three children May, Archie and Violet. James last name may have been changed as he may have been adopted by this new family in Manitoba. However, his brothers obituaries list him as James Mason of Manitoba Does anyone have any ideas?
