    3. Guelph Daily Mercury Obituaries - Sep. 6, 2006 HETHERINGTON, Wallace Gilroy "Wally" - Of Guelph, died peacefully, Sunday, September 3, 2006, in his 90th year. For 66 years he was the beloved husband of Rosemary. Loving father of Marian (James) Morton of St. Catharines, and Joyce Hetherington (Thomas Hennessy) of London. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Dr. Andrew (Rachel) Morton, Heather Morton and Jennifer (Jonathan) Harris and four great-grandchildren Abigail, Stephen, Evelyn and Grace. Wally was a skilled and compassionate teacher first in a one room schoolhouse in the hills of Bentick Township, then Southampton Elementary School, Southampton Continuation School, Saugeen District High School and finally Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute. He always played sports, loved great literature and participated generously in both his community and his church. A memorial service will be held at Dublin Street United Church, 68 Suffolk St. W., Guelph, Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. (Reception to follow in the church hall). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4A-214 Speedvale Ave. W., Guelph N1H 1C4 or a charity of choice will be gratefully acknowledged. A tree will be planted in memory of Wallace Hetherington in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph, Arboretum.
