And thanks again to the Smellie replies, I reconnected with a cousin and found a new one. Till the next time.....happy hunting all.=D> Anne in California

In 1888 he would have been 17 or 18. Any info is good info. And again this is a name that just shows you how all names change by who is writing or interpreting them. Anne in CA

    3. Regarding Harrison, school teacher, Artemesia Township (how do you spell it anyway?) Thx to all who have answered me so far-guess I should have supplied more info at first. This is the info I got from the Grey County Directory of 1865- School #11, Artemisia Twp. George Harrison shown as teacher Also somewhere I came across this info (can't remember where) a George Harrison is shown living on Lot 1 Concession 26 South of Durham Road, do not know if either one is my George. My George Harrison's obit says he was a "high school teacher in the northern districts for some 29 years". He died age 99 in 1913. The family moved to King township about 1869-70-71. George Harrison was married to Jane Boak and had 8 children, at least some of whom were born in "Durham".-Possibly William 1857, Anne 1859, Ruth 1861, Hannah 1865, John 1867 and Thomas(for sure) 1870, the other 2 (George Jnr. and Robert) born in King. I know they lived in your area and am trying to find out where he would have taught school. He originally came from Maryport, Cumberland, England but I don't know when, her family came from Kent, England. This is why I am interested in your area.

    3. Hi, Do you have a time frame? The 1901 census for Artemesia has one family of Harison. John age 78, Ann age 74, Alfred 38, His wife Isabella 44, their son George S. 6, and John J. 4. If you need the rest of the information 1901 is on Line. According to Split Rail Country, a History of Artemesia Township, Alfred bought Lot 165. In 1866 he sold 1/4 of an acre for School Section number 3 for 1 dollar. Page 340 has S. S. # 13 Eugenia. It lists some teachers but no Harrison. It was built in 1876 and in 1882 had 66 scholars.
