    3. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/Test3.jsp?did=72 There are three GREY sections but this one is the worst! I sincerely hope the transcribers are reading this as only transcribers can finish the page he or she claimed. It is perfectly alright to transcribe the few lines you want, you may use Copy and Paste to save these for family history. However -- do NOT claim the page as now you will have to finish the complete 50 lines -- when you only wanted 2 or 10. I like finishing incomplete pages, but they must be unclaimed. If a Grey County transcriber, please check at above URL, plus the nect district of Grey -- also claimed. Muriel --

I know someone has been looking for family history -- but they left the kind of page I like to finish -- not complicated. I check VIEW, and then know I will transcribe Lines 1 to 8, 13 to 20 and 27 to 50. [Always leave these pages UNCLAIMED] To assist those copying family history -- a few blank pages will help, I believe there are five forms on the Global Genealogy form Blank Census Forms - All forms are available at http://www.archivecdbooks.ca/downloads.html http://www.archivecdbooks.ca/Samples/1911Census.doc From Global Genealogy http://globalgenealogy.com/countries/canada/searchable-data.htm Also, when one sees the AGE column, slide to the right and there is a great deal more information: immigration, religion, occupation, etc. Remember, this is a copy of the complete image one would order for viewing in a library, etc. Happy transcribing!! 3. Hello Ron and Elaine: If they were just from Owen Sound Libraries - Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library www.owensound.library.on.ca - The library has the collection of the Bruce Grey Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society plus other books of their own - city directories, census records - transcriptions and microfilm, etc. Grey Roots - includes the Museum, Archives and tourism information www.greyroots.com Depending on your interests Billy Bishop Museum http://www.billybishop.org/ Marine Rail museum http://www.e-owensound.com/marinerail/ Tom Thomson Art Gallery http://www.tomthomson.org/ - next door to the Art Gallery If they were church members - perhaps a visit to their church. Check the city directories to find where they lived and see what the neighbourhood looks like today. Take time to walk along the harbour area and visit Harrison Park. www.owensound.ca - city's tourist web site. This will give you information on accommodation etc. As I live in Owen Sound, I have never stayed in any of the places in town so I can't speak for any of the places from personal experience. Perhaps others on the list will have places to suggest. I hope you have an enjoyable and profitable visit to Owen Sound. 3. Hi list I am new to this list so thought that I would just post my information for all to see. Perhaps there is someone out there who is looking for the same information. My gr gr gr grandparents were John McEachnie and Mary McArthur. They had I believe 9 children, but only 7 came to Canada from the Isle of Mull, Scotland. They came first to Vaughn Ontario, then to Priceville, Ontario and then finally to Proton Township. Although a lot of the family moved around Ontario, my gr gr granparents stayed in Proton. 3. Hello Cindy The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library has a map that is not dated but has both names on new and old. There is a map dated 1935 used by the city for zoning districts that gives the former name in faint print. 11th Street East is Peel and 1st Avenue East north of 10th Street is Marsh Street 11th Street West is Beeth Street and 1st Avenue West was Stevens Street. What were your great grandparents' names? Perhaps a directory can be checked for you before and after name changes. I have information here that tells me that my Great Grandparents lived at the corner of River, and Peel in 1905 when their second child was born. I have been looking at my Owen Sound map of today, along with a copy of the Owen Sound Street Directory prior to 1909 trying to figure out where River & Peel would meet, but it does not make sense to me. According to my copy of the Street Directory River St, was at 1st Avenue East, south of 10th street, and Peel Street was at 11th Street East, Looking at the map of today I don't see how this is possible unless I am looking at the map upside down, or if the Street Directory is not right. Is 11th Street not North of 10th street? If your standing in the middle of 10th street looking toward the Harbor is that not North? Does anyone know where I can find an Old Owen Sound map that would have the old street names on it, before they went to the numbering system. 3. Cindy - I am going to the library today. I will look at the map that has the names on it plus the cross reference list I did when I worked there. 11th Street is North of 10th street.
