    1. Re Badgerow Gamey
    2. Ida & Merle King
    3. Hi Richard Thanks for the rundown on Lafayette & Sarah... I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Sorry I don't belong to the Badgerow list as this is not a direct line of mine. According to the Article in Split Rail Co pg 183 Layfayette married Sarh Gamey, One year later she died in childbirth along with the baby girl. A year later he married Mary Lumley a daughter of Tom & Emma Lumley. To them were born six children, Sarah, John, David, Florence, Olive and Lottie. A severe epidemic of diphtheria was in the neighbourhood when the third child David was two years old and died.. The home was under quarantine, his mother could not go to the burial. His father Layfayette, who was staying with a neighbor, Herb Dyson, on the farm later owned by Murray Betts, took the boy to the cemetery on County Road west of Maxwell and buried him alongside his first wife and baby daughter.... ---------- My ? to Pam was how many cemeteries are there nr Maxwell? Re reply: There are 4 in Maxwell, two are very small. Old Pioneer Gamey John Gamey, died April 19, 1887 aged 64 years, His wife Sarah Mey, died April 16, 1900 aged 52 years. Sarah Jane Gamey, wife of Lay Badgerow, died December 14, 1886, aged 22 years. Also her daughter, Sarah J. died December 31, 1886 aged 1 month. No mention of a son. ----------- According to early transcripts from Bruce and Grey marriages 1858-1869 it mentions the following. Gamey, John 30 Osprey, Ireland, s/o Thomas & Mary, m 23 Feb 1858 Sarah Wilson 19 Osprey, Ireland d/o John & Sarah. Now I'm wondering if the Sarah MEY could be an transcribing or engraving error for Emily.. ----------- The article continues on and reports that Layfayette died in the house he was born in on January 12, 1937. He never owned a car nor did he drive a power operated machine or implement. Do you know which cemetery he would be buried in. Numerous Badgerow's are found in the Flesherton cemetery but not Layfette, at least in the transcripts... ---------- I checked the 1861, 1871, census transcripts and can not locate any Gamey/Gamley or Lumley families in Artemesia. These families might be from the Osprey area for which I don't have the transcripts for.. Any thoughts??? thanks Ida [email protected] wrote: > > Hi Ida, > > I have Lafayette Badgerow married Sarah Jane Gamely on Feb. 1, 1882. > His parents were Samuel & Sarah Badgerow. > Her parents were John & Emily Gamely. > Lafayette 1858-1947. > Sarah 1864-1886. > Everything occurred in Artemesia Twp., Grey Co., Ontario, Canada. > > Richard W.Thomas

    1. new pages for Sault Ste. Marie genealogy -- Grey Co. connection
    2. Bill Martin
    3. Hi all; I have recently added some major new pages courtesy of the work of Ida Reed of Sault Ste. Marie. She has transcribed the Parish Register of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Sault Ste. Marie. A lot of these records are in Latin or French, so you may need a dictionary! Be cautious of spellings and translations. Covers 1870 to 1910. She has also provided me with the fruits of another large Project. This is a transcription of birth, death and marriage notices from 'The Democrat' which became 'The Sault Ste. Marie News.' These notices cover 1887 to 1900. This newspaper was in SSM Michigan but a lot of the people have Ontario connections, especially in Grey and Simcoe counties. **many connections to Meaford** In addition to these major pages I have added new links on my Early Ontario Records page for Voyaguer and early French-Canadian resources for Ontario. Hope these new pages will be of help. Bill. 3. Hi Sue: Thanks for replying so quickly. The Robertson family we are looking for would have been born, probably, in Kirton Village, Dumfrieshire, Scotland. James was born in 1841, married in the USA and moved to Dornoch 1867/68. One daughter born in USA, the remainder except for one were born in Dornoch. Thanks for your assistance. Phyllis

    1. Hogg & Armstrong family in Melancton, Keppel & Albemarle
    2. Patricia Greber
    3. I am looking for any information on a Samuel Hogg b. 1845 in Canada son of Samuel & Margaret. Samuel married May 18, 1868 in Keppel, Grey Co to Margaret Armstrong (d/o James & Elizabeth Blair). Their children were Martha, Elizabeth, Samuel and William - and there may be more. William the last child of theirs that I have found was born in 1878 in Keppel. Samuel's brother Alexander married Margaret's sister Sarah in 1868 in Melancthon, Grey Co. Their children were Thomas, Susan and David. David was born in Albermarle, Bruce Co. in 1889. I was able to find Samuel on the 1881 census in Keppel but Alexander was not to be found. I believe I found Sarah buried at Edgehill Cemetery but haven't found out where any of the others may be buried. I would really like to find out any information on the Armstrong/Hogg family. Thanks, Patricia

    1. Eva Fisher
    2. J AND V Webb
    3. Eva Fisher was born Eva Radley, the daughter of John Radley and Selina Phillips. She married Thomas Edward Fisher. Eva had 4 sisters - Emma, Mary, Henrietta and Almeda. Almeda married John William Brown. Henrietta may have remained single. She is buried with her parents in Maxwell Cemetery. I don't have any other information on Emma and Mary yet. Perhaps Joseph married Emma or Mary? Fred Radley was a brother of Eva. George Radley was an uncle of Eva. There are many Radleys in Osprey Township and many buried in Maxwell Cemetery. Eva Radley Fisher was my wife's grandmother so I am interested in any information you have about the Atkinsons and others who married members of the Radley family. I also have more information about the Radleys, Fishers and Phillips. Good luck in your search, Jamie and Verna Webb

    3. Dear Listers: I must first tell you that I have found my "guardian angel" who is going to revamp my website. When the sites goes back on line I will tell you all about my West coast genealogy website angel. I am looking for anyone who has the photo (s) of the Holmes gravesite on the third of Normanby. Would you please share your photos with me so I can put them on line. I am also looking for photos of Ayton Union Cemetery and those of St. Peter's R.C. Cemetery also in Ayton,. I do not have the photos of the gates to St. Peter's, nor do I remember one for Ayton Union. If I could just have one of each cemetery entrance I would be very happy. If you have some of either of those cemeteries, please contact me off list. Please do not send me any photos until you contact me in person. OK Thanks in advance for any photos you might want to share. Sheila ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----
