Hi gang, I know someone on one of these two lists asked me about the name Carscadden. Sorry I don't remember who it was or from what list. The name is mentioned in the Ferrier Bible. Hi list Finally I'm ready to post this information. I tried every suggestion sent to me by tech wiz kids (THANK YOU FOR TRYING!) with the problem I was having trying to 'copy and paste' the list of names in the .jpg folder but none of the suggestions worked. I tried downloading a couple of PrintScreen capture programs and again they didn't help. So untimately I retyped the list. Anyway on with the clippings....An elderly cousin kept a scrapbook, etc. of newspaper clippings throughout WWII. They are deteriorating due to age and mildew so I decided to scan the lot of them rather than lose this chunk of valuable history. It was a bittersweet project - many of those listed below died fighting for us - and many returned home. The following names are of those clippings scanned. All are from Grey County with the majority of them from the Durham area, including Bentinck, Normanby, Egremont and Glenelg townships. If you see a name that you think connects, please contact me at [email protected] and I will reply with an email that includes an attachment of that newspaper clipping. My subject line in the return email will say "attachment is virus scanned". Greetings All. I have just been advised, once more, that due to circumstances beyond our control, the expected announcement from Industry Minister Rock has been delayed once more. This time until tomorrow morning. I am assured that it is unlikely there will be any further delays. I will be getting up very early in the morning in anticipation of receiving a call from Ottawa advising that the announcement has been made. As soon as I know, you will know. Happy Hunting. Gordon A. Sue: >From the sounds of it you don't want to Copy, but you do want to "Save As". There it should give you options - and with Adobe Photoshop, one of the options is usually PDF or Portable Document File. Simply save it as such, with the appropriate name. Then when someone requests the clipping, simply right click on the PDF & "Send as Attachment" to the address. I hope this clarifies this somewhat for you. Regards Don
I am hoping that someone can tell me in what newspaper obituaries would appear for Ayton, Ontario or Normanby Township in 1885? I am looking for one for William Scoles who died March 1, 1885. Dianne Scoles
it the items are safe to get wet, and did not run or smear when they got wet in the first place --then use distilled water in plastic type tub (non iron) --place the items stuck together in the water and let them soak --to un-stick them --on photos --be careful ,--water might hurt them --test first --when using water on photos, be careful also not to touch the photo side (the emulsion) as it will be soft to the touch and you will damage the photo ----once the items are un stuck, rinse them off in a clean vat of distilled water --and let dry in a warm oven --(not hot ) --warm about 110 degrees --this should dry them off without mildew --if you have mildew on an item, you can microwave it for 30-45 seconds --this will kill the mildew--remember mildew will spread --so keep the items with mildew separate from the ones without --bill ----- Original Message ----- From: Don L. Hi list A cousin, Olive Patterson of Durham, has an extensive newspaper clippings collection, circa WWII but also including the casualties of WWI. Unfortunately this collection suffered water damage during the Durham flood and is not only brittle but also mildewed so I decided to salvage what I could. I borrowed her scrapbook and clippings and have been scanning the service men/woman clippings (including marriages). Now I have a dilemma....I would like to put the list online so that anyone who connects can contact me and in return have an email with the clipping as an attachment. My problem is how to list the extensive collection. I'm using Adobe Photoshop - I went to the folder, put it in 'list' format under view, did a 'select all' and 'copy' thinking that it would copy and paste the list into either an email of MS Word - no luck - it won't copy. I do not want to copy out the extensive list - can anyone help??? Thanks Sue Visser

Re Margaret's request for an index for passengers between 1817 - 1849. I am not aware of this index. I too could use a look up...more importantly perhaps the lister could let us know where to find this? Prior to 1850 on passenger lists- looking for DUCKLOW/DUKELOW April in BC
To all list users, Would there be anyone on the list that would have the book "Index to Passengers who emigrated to Canada between 1817 and 1849 " that would be willing to do a look up for me? I am looking for any Egan families that may have come to Ontario during that time peiod. The ones I have found were in the Owen Sound area and Proton township. Thanks for your help.
