    3. Hi, Eileen: Thank you sooo very much for these!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to send them. Just for clarification, James Walker Lunan's wife was Francis Hollingshead, not Francis Holmstead - likely hard to read on the original doc. They were my gggrandparents. Thank you again, Eileen!! 3. Hi, Thanks Carol for the burial records from Chatsworth Anglican Churchyard. Carol mentioned the Bruce and Grey branch of the OGS publishes fiche of obituaries from the area. Does anyone have access to them and could look up any of the following? Thanks Pearce: J. F. 1856-1925; his wife Mary Critchley 1855-1939; dau Mary A. 1888-1977; Charles Critchley d 27 Mar 1885 age 66 yrs 10 mon; John Critchley 1860-1919; his wife Rachel 1861-1928; Sarah wife of Charles Critchley d 23 Sept 1892 age 77 yrs 10 mon The Grey County Museum bookshop has for sale a couple of heafty sounding and presumably detailed volumes on the History of Sullivan Township. Can anyone confirm if the Critchleys get a mention in these volumes - I would expect Charles Critchley to as he was the first municipal treasurer. If so I might invest in them for my father in law who is tickled pink by what I have found out so far about his Great- uncle! Thanks John Irving in Leeds UK

    3. Hi John, I have a copy of "The History of Sullivan Township, 1850 - 1975" On Page 227 the following appears under the chapter "Century and 3 or more generation farms" CRITCHLEY Charles Critchley of England and his wife, Sarah Walker of Ireland took up residence on Lot D, Concession 2 in the 1840's. He bought 50 acres and was given 50 acres if he improved it and bought Lot C on the same terms; patent for east half dated March 17, 1862. They Built a Log House and barn near a spring. The Sydenham river runs between the present buildings and Concession 2 Farm backs on Concessions 3 and 4. They had 4 children with a son John operating a creamery there for a time beforemoving to Northern Ontario. The churn he used was 3 feet square and 6 feet long. Mr. Critchley was clerk of the township from 1851 to 1878. He built a rough cast house (said to be built like a barn) which was used until 1895 and built all his own furniture out of cherry wood. His daughter married Frank Pearce, a son of the William Pearce on Concession 1. In 1925 it was rented to Ellsworth Kidd who later married the youngest daughter, Alma Pearce. They sold it to Edwin Dixon in 1950. It has since that time been occupied by his son-in-law, Isaac Johnson. There is also a write up on the PEARCE family starting on pg 283. There was also a second history book published called "Sullivan Township History Volume 2" However the index does not show any Critchley's mentioned. Hope that helps. It is a great book with much information about pioneering families and life in general in the township I certainly reccomend that you purchase it, not only for the information, but it is also a good read as well.
