    1. Re: [Can-Ont-Carleton] Deevy/Foley family contact me?
    2. Doris Hope
    3. To Bonnie: Below is a copy of the letter I forwarded to Bill Woodruff whom I have already made you aware as one interested in the Deevy family. You will notice that I gave him the names of two grandchildren of John Deevy : Ann Powers and Michael Fahey (Tel. 613-8290782). The person who did most of the research on the family was a Fitzgerald descendant who is now deceased. I don't know that any one of her family is now interested. Below is my letter to Bill Woodruff: Yes, the Michael Deevy and Sarah Kinch family of Nepean township is the same family as yours. First census records show the family's name in Canada as Davy or Davie. Michael and Sarah had at least 3 sons: Michael who first married a Spearman and then Anna Rivington of Huntley; John, of Nepean, who married Mary Ann Foley, and William, first of Goulbourn and then of Cumberland, who married Ann Scharf The latter had 13 children, one of whom was John who married Eliza Jane Watchorn. Another was Samuel who married Ellen Jane Grifftith. The family in Cumberland used the spelling of "Deavy". For particular information on your branch of the family, you can try to locate a Mrs.Germaine Deavy, R. R. #1, Navan, Ont, who sent a query to the Ottawa Genealogical Branch in 1981. setting out her family names and asking for information. Her query was published In the Ottawa Branch News, Vol XIV, #6, Nov., 1981. Maybe she is still alive and may not, but she probably left some family members who could be contacted. My personal knowledge is of the John Deevy family who married Mary Ann Foley. I went to elementary school with the family. Their daughter Alice passed to me much personal information. She has now passed on, but she has a daughter Ann Powers who lives in Nepean (Tel 225-5737). Alice also had a son, a Michael Fahey who lives at 2552 Carling Ave., Ottawa, whom you could contact Another relative of Alice Deevy (later Fahey), a Fitzgerald girl who did much research into their Irish ancestry, found a document (CO384 Vol. 1, page 186, Reel B876 for 1817_ in the National Archives which indicated that the Kinch, the Deevy and the Fitzgerald family all wished to emigrate from Ireland at the same time. You might be interested in looking there." With this further information and contacts, I hope you will be successful in your endeavours. Regards Doris Hope
