Forwarded for Lois Sparling, Calgary. Muriel M. Davidson [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------- Dear Folks Just to up-date the genealogy community at large; The action to compel the federal government to release the 1906 census of the Prairie Provinces was filed and served in mid February. We have also filed and served Affidavits by each of our 11 Plaintiffs (Applicants). The Defendants (Respondents) must serve us with their Affidavits by April 5. There are very strict time limits for each step in this particular court procedure. To get right to the bottom line, all material, including written argument, must be filed with the court by the end of June. We can then get a court date for the hearing - likely early fall. The name of the case is Beatty et al versus The Chief Statistician et al. Our 11 Applicants come from 4 provinces and include professional as well as amateur genealogists. One is a history professor. Our fund-raising goal for this court action was $8,000. Today we surpassed $12,000. Lois Sparling Calgary, Alberta --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
