David McGuinty - MP, Ottawa South You may not have heard as yet, but Bill S-18 was passed today in the Senate following Third Reading with a majority of 59-16. It will now be on its way to the House of Commons where hopefully it will be fast-tracked. Bill S-18 is non-partisan and will allow release of the 1911 to 2001 census records at 10-year intervals. The 1911 census was due for release June 1, 2003. Researchers will be pleased to know the bill has been approved by the Information Commissioner, Privacy Commissioner, Chief Statistician, National Archivist, Canada Census Committee and Canadian Historical Association. Will you be voting in favour of Bill S-18? Your constituents may like you to do so. Please let me know by email -- a note from your secretary will do, due to lack of time. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score3.htm#ON Muriel M.
