To all:- We have more census motions and bills than the ones by Senator Lorna Milne (Bill S-12) and Murray Calder (Bill C-312). Cheryl Gallant was mentioned in Hansard as follows:- M-238 - February 6, 2001 - Mrs. Gallant (Renfrew--Nipissing--Pembroke) - On or after Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - That, in the opinion of this House, the government should allow the transfer of all census records from Statistics Canada to the National Archives of Canada for permanent safekeeping, and access to records should be given to genealogists and other researchers 92 years after the census, subject to a privacy right that allows individuals to object to the disclosure of personal information in the census records. However, to date, Ms. Gallant has not asked for assistance -- but may be obtaining it from her OGS Branch. It will still be Gordon Watts collecting the House of Commons petitions, while I have the Senate and Non-Residential ones, in both languages. Muriel M.
