    3. Hi Peg, Centerpointe used to be the main branch of the Nepean Library. The community the library is in is called Centerpointe. When the City of Nepean was folded into the City of Ottawa a few years back, Centerpointe became a branch of the Ottawa Library. They have a small genealogy section which is dedication mostly to the smaller communities in and around Ottawa (such as Nepean was before the amalgamation). There are a good number of Carleton County records there so I should be able to find something for you. I will take a look for your ancestors in the next few days and let you know what I find. I am at a brick wall for my Langs so maybe I will have some luck with your Johnstons! :) Sandy On 1/18/06, p&rgordon <p&rgordon@telus.net> wrote: > > Thank you Sandy. I live in British Columbia. 3. Thanks so much for doing that. If I found the correct William Robert before, he was born Apr 14, 1831 Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario with parents James and Margaret Jane. Would be nice to confirm that. Seems likely as on the 1911 Census for Manitoba, he is living with his son Alen Forest Johnston , and his birth is given as April 1831. I don't know for sure when William and Jane were married, I just looked at her age and took a guess. William was 10 on the 1881 when Jane was 26 (later census says he was born 1862) , whereas Horace Grove (Horrice) was 6, born in 1875 when Jane was 20 and Alan was born in 1876 when Jane was 21. Think maybe marriage was 1874 but could have been prior to Walter's birth in June 1872 although she would have been only 16 or so. Hard to say which children belong to which marriage but William must have had a prior marriage. Belinda was born abt 1863, but the 1881 Census doesn't give the relationship, just assuming a daughter. I also assume that James was probably the one who originally emigrated but who knows. Thanks again.
