Christmas is over and we are now into the new year -- 2002. Time to get back to work - unless you will be alive in 2094!. The next Town Hall meetings are coming up on 7, 9, and 11 January in Halifax, Toronto, and Montreal respectively. Further reports of the Ottawa Town Hall meeting and a critique of Dr. Ivan Fellegi's presentation to the Senate Committee is in my column at http://globalgazette.net/gazce/gazce75.htm Will all those who will be speaking or attending contact me at [email protected] -- YOUR reports are very necessary. Chief Statistician Dr. Ivan Fellegi still insists on promoting the non-existent 'promise' of never-ending confidentiality even though he has been unable to produce any documented evidence of it, as we are requesting. Another main thrust of the Town Hall meetings is to promote the so-called 'Compromise Solution'. Copies of this 'compromise' were made available to all attending the Ottawa meeting and it is expected that this will be repeated at all upcoming meetings. Every speaker at the Ottawa meeting was asked if the 'compromise' was something they could support. Every speaker rejected it.
